UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM
GERMANY’S PLIGHT. [Bt Electric Telegraph [United Press Association.! Bdrittf,' Decemner 21. The amount of unemployment in Germany at the present time is the worst at any period since 1908. The Socialists state that there are 1,250,000 unemployed. A more conservative estimate pufs the number at 800,000. The demand for unemployment insurance is increasing. Herr Delbruck, Minister of the Interior, states that statistical material for an imperial system for the relief of unemployment does not exist. Moreover, the Government is opposed to such a scheme because it would relieve the funds nf the Socialist trades unions and enable them to divert their money into political channels.
