THE CONVENT SCHOOL.

PICNIC AT NGAERE. Yesterday 100 pupils of the .school were conveyed in drags by Davey's Empire Stables to Ngaer* where a picnic was held in the Gardens. The weather was line, and the children thoroughly enjoyed the Dutinjr. The work of catering for such a crowd and the adults in attendance was a rather big order, but the arrangements were well managed, while fruit and lol'ies and a prize for each child made +he day one to he remembered with llie kindliest feelings by the youthful mind. Thanks in this direction must be given to the teachers especially, and to Father Maples, who had charge, and who was assisted by Mr J. Mulvey in conducting the sports programme. It was a tired but very happy crowd who reached home about six o'clock in the evening. The following are the results of the'sports:

, SCHOOL PRIZE. The gold medal for Catechism and Scripture was won by Eileen Clifton, Standard IV. The competition for this prize throughout the whole classes (Standards VI, V., IV.) was very keen, eight being bracketed for the second prize.
