Two days after the Niagara left Vancouver she encountered a gale ol hurricane force, lasting three days. She was hove-to for fifteen hours. Large seas battered her sides and washed the decks. The passengers had an Uncomfortable time., life vessel sustained no damage during the gale. ■ The Xiagare proved remarkably steady, and brought a record cargo of 1220 tons for Auckland, 240 tons f6t southern ports, and 197# tens' lor Australia. Slid had a full passenger list.
