A CARPENTERS DEATH. [Per Press Association.] Auckland, December 10. The body of a man found floating in the harbor to-day has been identified as that of .John Markie, a carpenter, *Mio was recently employed ,in Auckland. He had been out Of work since the beginning of the strike. He was last seen on Monday.
A SHOOTING CASE. Auckland, December 10
Herbert Babb, a farm laborer, aged 33 years, was admitted to tbe Auckland Public Hospital at live o'clock t}ii f s morning, suffering from a gunshot Wound in jtKe lower part of the jaw. Bilbb was 'employed on Kerr's farm at Whitfordr" Yesterday afternoon, about- fo'iirl o'clock, Ren; went for his jr cows, and 1 Vhile~ doing so lie heard a-gun fired; Proceeding at once to the whore, he found Babb lying on the ground with the lower part of bis lace almost blown away. The man was alive l but unconscious. The injuries were of a serious nature, ami an operation had to be performed. Babby's condition is very critical.
