AMUSEMENTS.

BERNARD'S PICTURES. Last night's change of films proved to be a great star programme. The Vitagraph drama, "Hearts of the Empire," introduces splendid character make-ups of Xapoleon, Marie Louise,

and other court favorites. The Gaumont Graphic, industries of Jamaica, are pictures of great educational value. The supporting films include some fine dramas, comedys and "The Manoel Acrobatic Quartette." The famous Spanish strong man and woman being

clearly depicted. In Friday's change the feature of the programme is a fine drama of wild life, entitled "Wamba, the Child of the Jungle." It is a story dealing with a tragedy in the married life of Wamba, a wild girl of the jungle, and of her ultimate rescue by an English doctor and his wife.

There is a stirring scene at Wamba's A flight through the jungle, a perilous •• flight fraught with dangers from man and beast. Some fine child-acting is introduced, and the final scene, in which the little child of Wamba's benefactor is stalked through the jungle by lions and pursued by Wamba's husband, is one of the most realistic ever screened.
