The Health Inspector reported:— Infectious diseases: Eight cases 01 chicken-pox were notitied, all in one house in Stratford County. The patients are all isolated at home, an precautions are being taken against spread of disease. Premises in Stratford Borough were disinfected after a scarlet fever case, which was nursed at home. General. —Stratford Borough: One private hospital was inspected. Five butchers’ shops were inspected" re recbmnieiidations made under the new regulations. In three instances the work was ttone or being completed. Three Chinese ffuit shops were inspected, and four dozen oranges were condemned and destroyed. The fisli shops and marts were inspected. Whangamomona: Premises were reported on re nuisance caused by house drainage. Stratford County: One school was inspected. Toko: The drainage and plumbing work at the new hotel was inspected and found to be in accordance with modern requirements. The butcher’s shop was re-inspected re recommendations made under the new regulations. The work is being done. The bakehouse was inspected, and the bread ■weighed, being found to be full weight. The Visiting ■ Committee reported that everything was progressing well at the Hospital. ", 4 CERTIFICATE WANTED.

Mr -Smith asked why it was that a period of twelve months had elapsed since Nurse Braik had passed her examinations withogUher having received a certificate!—ln reply to Mr Sole, Mr Smith did not know if official application had been made for the certificate-.—Mr Penn said delay was probably caused by the absence of Dr. Carbery, who had examined Nurse Braik.—The Chairman said, that a temporary testimonial could be procured if it was urgently desired.
