A well discussed matter is the license sought by the Stratford Electrical Supply Go. -to supply if electric current throughout Stratford County. The interests' of the Borough and the County conflict to a degree on the matter, and it was only natural that some reference should be made to it at last night’s meeting of the Borough Council.

Cr. llichards said the County Council had passed, a' reSolution urging the Government to grant the license; but he was not quite sure that County Councillors knew exactly what the issuing of the license actually meant, if the license were issued it would mean that the company would be empowered to carry on business for forty years not only in the Cpunty,, but in the Borough also. He moved that the Council object to the license in its present form. The Council had never urged the Government not to grant the Company power to run their County lines through the Borough—so far the Borough had not poked its nose into the County pie any more than v.as absolutely necessary.

Cl-. Fredric seconded. He said that nobody in Stratford Borough wanted to interfere with the. County Council lighting’ sthehio, but the Borough could not allow the ( otufty Council to act over their heads. Crsv King and Masters argued in the direction that the Council in opposing the’issue of the present license were opposing the provision of a lighting scheme in'the County.

The Mayor said that as one of the deputation which interviewed the Government he could say that no representations wore made against the Couihty scheme except where the interests of the Borough were endangered. Cyl Boon said it should be made clear, to the County that the Borough had-...n0 desire to interfere with the County’s objects, hut must conserve its-'etsm rights. Cr; Richards altered his motion to read .that the Borough place on record its* protest against the issue of the license in its present form, and this wits' carried.

It was also decided that the Mayor and Cr. Richards wait on the County Council and discuss the matter with them.
