Commenting on New Zealand defence, the Herald says: The New Zealand Government is wise in drawing attention to the growth of national and Imperial consciousness which is likely to result from the development of a naval force in the Dominion. The military schemes both in the Commonwealth and in New Zealand should do much to bind all classes together with a common desire to serve their land. - Thus a sense of common nationhood should be stimulated and should thrive.
