BURNS HIS RESIDENCE.

Foxton, December 8

A farmer named : Jas". Warren Williams, at an early hour on Sunday morning, attempted to burn down a cottage occupied by his wife and owned by A'. S. Patterson and Co., Wellington. After setting fire to the building he knocked on the wall to arouse the inmates and the fire was put out before any damage was done. Williams watched from a distance, anc then rode to his. farm, about two miles distant, and burned his house and contents and gave himself up to the police. He appeared before Mr Hornblow, J.P.. this morning and was remanded to Palmerston on the 15th inst. Some time ago Williams attempted to commit suicide.
