The following extracts are made from the latest District Orders iseued by Colonel Chaytor, O.C. Wellington military district; — The musketry course at New Plymouth will now be held from December Bth to December 12th, 1913. The infantry Ist camp fr vu November 24th to December 3rd, 1913, has been abandoned. The dates for the camps of instruction (c) Senior Cadets—officers and N.C.Os., have now been fixed for from January 14th to January 24th, 19.1!. The course for field officers set down for from November Cth to November Bth, 1913, will now he hold from December sth to December, 7th, 1913 (inclusive).

The Commandant has ruled that General Regulation 104,-11 nlpsChe adhered to, and that, therefore, officers of 11 List, although in command of companies of Senior Cadets, are not eligible for promotion until they have the required commissioned service. The following rulings by Headquarters are published for general information “Service in the Reserve of Officers or in the Motor Reserve does not count towards qualifying service for the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service ; Medal JJor for the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers’ Decoration.” “Service on the Reserve of Officers cannot he reckoned as qualifying service towards the X.Z. Long and Efficient Service Medal or the N.Z. Service Medal (12 '.years), but efficient service in the Reserve, i.e., the Territorial
Force Reserve, is counted as halfservice in both cases.” The Commandant desires that attention of all ranks ho called to the article on- organisation and administration contained in the X.Z. Military Journal 1913,.
Drill-shod and Rifle-range Committees have no powe rto in-ar expenditure, or let contracts, etc., unless authorised hy the Group Officer, who is'responsihlo for all Drill-sheds and Ranges in his Group. Committees are appointed to advise and assist him.
