MR W. MORANT BAYLY.

A PROPOSED PRESENTATION.

A meeting was held at the Borough Council Chambers on Saturday to consider the question of making a pre;station to Mr W. Morant Bayly, ,-ho recently severed his connection , ith the National Bank after service vith the Bank for many years. Mr W. L. Kennedy, who was voted a the chair, said many present had nown Mr Bayly during the whole d his residence in Stratford, mmber of years. Personally, he had mown of his residence in Stratford. Mr 1). J. Malone said the presentation should bo made more on behalf i Mr Bayly’s services to citizens than bis service to the Bank. Mr K. Jackson said Mr Bayly had dways lieon a good friend of the A. uid P. Association. He had also al.vays been to the fore in helping any rood cause. Mr E. Jackson was elected secreL arv and treasurer of the fund.

Ir was decided that those present be a committee to forward the movement, with power to add to their number. A list of those who will be asked to take subscription lists was drawn up, and it was decided that these lists 1)0 returnable in a fortnight. Subscriptions to the funds were made by those in the room.

Messrs. Cl. Hall, G. Smart, J. 1). Healy and I). J. Malone were apj pointed a committee to canvas the | town, power being given to add to | the number. | Mr Smart said Mr Bayly had been nineteen years in Stratford and he, I thought all citizens should do their j utmost to suitably .recognise Mr Baylly’s services to the town. The secretary, the chairman and jMr Fookes were appointed a committee to iix a suitable occasion for the I presentation. 1 It was decided that the presentation take the form of an illuminated address and a purse of sovereigns. Tho committee will meet again next )‘urday night.
