Newlcn King's Weekly Report. On Friday, 21st inst., at my Waiwakaiho yards, 1 had a good entry of cattle with a very representative attendance. Competition throughout was good, store cows and steers meeting with a strong demand. Good 15-monlli empty heifers sold at improved rates and for any lines of these showing Jersey 1 had keen bidding. At Toko oh Monday, 24th inst, there was a good yarding, all of which I was able to clear at satisfactory prices as follows: —Yearling steers £2 5s 6d to £3 os, yearling heifers £2 2s to £3 6s,' small 29s 6d, 2-year steers £4 to £4 lis, store cows £3 Gs to £4 16s, forward and fat cows £o 4s to £6 6s. cows and calves £4 12s, bulls £s'l2s 6d to £6 15s.
At Stratford on Tuesday, 25th inst, for my fortnightly sale, despite the very rough weather, I had a full yarding of cattle. The attendance was greatly affected by the Weather, chose present, however, being in need of stock, and 1 was able to Clear tire majority of the yarding at full; market rates. Competition for stock and forward cows was right up to recent sales, there being an unsatisfied demand for this class. The quality of the yearling and 15-month steers was not up to the standard of late yarding;; and tlie prices obtained for these must be considered very satisfactory. The appearance of yearling and 15-month empty heifers was greatly affected by the boisterous weather, but any pens where the condition and size were right up to age, sold at prices slightly in advance of late quotations. 1 supply prices:—Aged cows £2 6s to £2 13s Cd, light framed cows £3 Is to £3 15s, good store cows £4 2s 6d to £4 18s, forward cows up to £5 17s, fat cows £6 2s to £7 3s, fat heifers £5 13s, yearling to 15-month steers £2 13s to £3 6s, bad colored £1 16s to £2, yearling. The market is firm. Wheat.—Sold an Australian cargo at 36s c.i.f. The market is firm, and there is a fair demand owing to unfavorable crop reports. The outlook is uncertain in connection with Indian market prospects.
