THE STRATFORD CLUB. (By P. Steward). ■ Last night the final round of the Buttons was played, the games resulting : J. Masters, Reeve, King (s) 19 v. Grant, Fookcs, McMillan («) 15. Bickerton, Cottier, Jackson, Smart (s) 11 v. Wilson, Brake, Wright. Dingle (s) 10. Et. Masters, Edgecumbo, .McDonald, Penn (s) 20 v. Hignett, Robson, Maritin, Porritt (s) 2.
The result of the competition was that Smart's team were the winners, and in the pavilion after the game the President (Mr Fookes), in a happy little speech, presented the Buttons amidst applause. Air Smart suitably returned thanks on behalf of his men. The first match in the new series of the Buttons will be played on Monday evening. Xo. 1 plavs No. 2, .'1 !plays -I, 5 plays 6, and 7 plays 8. Tin 1 ;same rules apply to the competition 'as before, except that teams will select their own rinks on the green. Play may by arrangement start at any time after ~> o'clock provided a pair on each side is present, the third and fourth players to be taken in as they arrive. As the evenings are getting longer. fifteen heads will be played.
