ANWUAL SYNOD MEETING.

The annual Synod of the laranakiWanganui district of the Methodist Church was opened in ministerial session in the Methodist Church, Stratford, yesterday afternoon. This is the first Synod since the consummation of union 'between the ex-Methodist and ex-Priimtive Methodist sections of the now united Church; The ministerial representatives present were; Revs. J A. Luxford (chairman), J. W. Burton, R/ J. Liddell, H. T. Peat, Wm. Canned (New Plymouth), .1. W. Griffin (Waitara), C. Griffin’(lnglewood), E. Bandy (Stratford), Id. White (Eltham), E. O. Blamires (Hawera), R. B. Speiis (Manaia), R. B. Tinsley (Opunake), E, Rands (Kaponga), A. B- Chappell (Wanganui), W. B. Scott (Aramoho), J. J. Mather (Marton), J. E. Parsons (Taihape), A. A. Bonsley (ilactihi), 1. G. Hammond, R. T. P. Haddon (West Coast Maori Mission), Messrs Ecatherston, Burnard (Home Missionors), Tupeta, W. Kaitara, i e Alikahaua, hml Hohepa Kawana (-Maori missionaries). The chairman expressed sorrow at the illness and consequent absence oi the minister of the local church, the Rev. A. Reader. The Rev. A. B. Chappell, M.A., was elected secretary of the session, and the Revs. Burton and Blamires, reporters. Two candidates for the Ministry, Messrs Sullivan and Pearn, wore examined and recommended to the conference for acceptance.

Ministers on probation were examined, and the following were recommended to he advanced a year in the probationary period; Revs. H. I. Peat. J. F- Parsons, A. A. Hensley, and R. B. Speirs.
