The Government Meteorologist (Rev D. C. Bates) telegraphed this afternoon as follo.ws: — The indications arc for northerly strong winds to gale and veering 1»y north to west. Strong weather may he expected. The weather appears likely to he cloudy and, unsettled. Rain probable. Barometer falling, but rising temporarily after about 20 hours.
