In the motor customs case, after Xeal had been further cross-examined, Shortland, manager of the ClementTalbot Company, gave evidence that a. clerical mistake had been, made in charging defendants for new tyres attached to a chassis when they were I really second-hand. The letter .from his company to defendants, in which reference was made to alterations in 'certain invoices; stated that they! were doing it only at defendants' request and on the understanding that defendants " took the responsibility. Witness de c clared that the letter was 1 riot dictated by him, though it might have been written after a discussion between him and one of defendants. The case was adjourned till Wednesday.
