WIFE DESERTION.

[Per Press Association.] Greymouth, Xovember 15

A young man named Campbell, who was arrested in Sydney for wife desertion and whom there was difficulty in extraditing owing to the smallpox regulations, was brought up at the local Court this morning. He stated that he was unable to find securities for payment of the maintenance order made last week. He was convicted on the charge of desertion and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, and, failing to find security for the maintenance order, was committed to gaol till security is forthcoming.
