Brown (Otaki) 2.’ Dialogue, Miss Prichard and E. Luks 1. French song, E. Luks 1, Miss Pitcher 2. Palmerston, November 5. The Manawatu A. and P. Association’s twenty-eighth Show opened today in hue weather. So far as exhibits are concerned the strike is not materially affecting the show, but the disturbed state of the country may reflect itself on the attendance to-mor-row and on Friday. The number of entries is larger than last year, the total being 4067. There is a big entry of dairy cattle of various breeds. Other sections are strong. Judging is proceeding in the ■minor departments, tomorrow being the big stock judging day. Wellington, November 5. In the Bankruptcy Court to-day, the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout), granted an order of discharge in the case of William George Somerville, Taumaruhni, formerly a solicitor, Wellington, but stipulated that it was not to take effect for two years from date.

Sentences were imposed as follows by Justice Chapman to-day: John Henry Hurley, three charges of forgery and uttering, 12 months’ imprisonment, and also declared a habitual criminal. George Edward Westlake, theft from dwelling, eight months’ imprisonment. John Hugo Johansen, breaking and entering, 18 months’ imprisonment on each of two charges, the sentences to be concurrent.
