Wellington, November 4

The Watersiders' Union, in* the icourse of a letter to the clergy expressing appreciation of their action in advocating a peaceful settlement and deprecating the introduction of armed men, state that the incident would go a great way towards getting a better feeling between the Church and the clergy.

One hundred and sixty mounted specials arrived from Taranaki this morning about 1 p.m. A large number of horses arrived from Manawatu and disembarked in the presence of a large crowd and escorted by mounted specials to the barracks. There was no disorder, but some jeering.

It is reported that no more flour is available from Auckland, as the mills there require the supplies for local consumption. The Watersiders' band played at Post Office Square this morning for the first time for some days.
