FIRE.

BOOT FACTORY DESTROYED. [Per Press 'Association.] Carterton, November 4. A tire at Martinborough last, night completely destroyed McLeod and Smith's boot factory. During the day a leak was discovered in the mains, and the water was turned off to enable repairs to be made. It is alleged that ono of the men employed in the factory upset some benzine which ignited, and soon the whole building was in flames. Practically nothing was saved, no water being available. The crowd stood and .watched the progress of the fire. The.brigade was in attendance,, but waa powerless. The insurances are not., yet known.
