STRATFORD v. INGLEWOOD. The “unbeaten” Stratford Cricket team, captained by C. Jackson, journeyed to Inglewood on Thursday afternoon and suffered defeat at the hands of th| Inglewood Club by 16 on the first innings. The visiting team had a most enjoyable time, and are loud in their praises of the kindness received by them from the Inglewood team. Stratford went to the wicket firsthand were J wlDiTut JJ ffoi^thfe small score of I‘4 runs, the concrete pitch proving altogether too fast. Inglewood were soon all disposed of _ for 30. Stratford did much better in the second innings, scoring 60 before the last wicket fell, the chief scorers being Hill (16) arid E. Jackson (17, not cut). When time was called,. Inglewood had lost 8 wickets for 60 runs, Matthews being highest scorer with 19. Stratford’s best howlers were Hale, East, Kirkharn, and Wheeler. It has been decided to play a return match 6n the A. and P. Show grounds on Thursday, 13th November. The team sent away by Stratford was only a scratch one, but did very well, and it seems a pity that the town cannot raise a team to take part in the provincial championship contest.
