Ihe Duke of Sutherland now offers the Government 400,000 acres at £2 •per acre.

A deputation of the 'Town Tenants League pointed out that traders’ difficulties and losses caused grave injustices under the leasehold system. ( Mr Lloyd George replied that the Government proposed adopting the principles promoted by'the League and setting up an impartial tribunal, appointing experts to decide questions between the landlords and tenant, including the renewal of leases. (Received 10.15 a.m.)

Mr Bonar Law, speaking at Newcastle to-day, said Mr Lloyd George was one of the greatest demagogues who ever existed in Britain. He had an actor’s temperament, and when on the platform he plays the roie of “little brother of the poor.” He feels it then, but when the lights are out and the tirade against luxury finished, probably he does not deprive himself of little comforts, “I nions too,” the speaker continued, “are not going to seek power by competing in Radical vote-catching schemes, but Disraeli’s ideal to raise tinconditions of masses must be our ideal.
