'The Grand Jury is considering whether to bring in a perjury charge against certain witnesses in the Slingsby legitimacy case. Lieut. Slingsby, of the British Navy, and his American wife, are endeavouring to prove that a child aged three, is their legitimate- son. Other members of the Slingsby family seek to show that the child was changed at birth, that its parents' were at the Santa Rosa High School, and were a girl and a chauffeur. OLYMPIC REPRESENTATION. The Olympic fund to secure proper representation of Great Britain at Berlin has reached £9583. The committee unanimously decided to abandon the appeal unless £25,000 was secured by the end of the year. P. AND O. DIFFICULTY SETTLED. Two sittings were held of the P. and O. Conference, the chairman and secretary of the Guild of Officers being spokesmen. All outstanding difficulties were satisfactorily settled, and the resignations withdrawn. The settlement affects 450 officers.
