DEATH FROM LOCKJAW. > (Per Press Association.] Auckland, October 29. James Alexander was employed on the Maheno when a case fell on his . hand. He was removed to the hospital, and tetanus set in and his death resulted this morning. ACCIDENTALLY SHOT. v Masterton, October 28. A man named George Graham has been admitted to the hospital suffering from a bullet wound in his leg accidentally sustained whilst out shooting. A FATAL MISTAKE. Timaru, ‘October 28. An elderly woman, Mrs Cochrane, wife of G. V. Cochrane, county clerk for Waimate, got on the Oamaru train at Studholmo junction in mistake for the■ Waimate branch train. After the train had started, she endeavored to get off, but, jumping the wrong way and holding on to the rail, she was dragged down, and the bogie of the next car ran over and killed her instantly. The lower part of the body was terribly mangled. A clerk called to her to wait and he would stop the train, but deceased was deaf and did not hear him. ' DETERMINED SUICIDE. Hamilton, October 29. Joseph Webb, 65, an old constabulary man, in well-to-do- circumstances, committed suicide at Hamilton yesterday. He was found lying outside the police station with his throat and wrist cut. He had been in failing health for some time. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. Eketahuna, Octber 29. . A man named Ford, age about 30, employed oil Brooklands station, yesterday morning attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat with a razor. He was found in a whare in an unconscious condition. His recovery is probable.
