During the evening the Rev. J. Pattison. made a brief speech, expressing the regret of the congregation at the departure from their midst of Mr and Mrs Mackay and family. Mr Mackay suitably responded. On
behalf of Mrs Mackay and his family he thanked the congregation and friends for the social gathering, for the valuable presents they had received, and especially for the goodwill which had prompted them. He would
always, take an active interest in the prosperity of the Stratford congregation.
Subsequently refreshments were handed round by the- ladies, and the gathering was concluded by the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
