This afternoon a tire was discovered in a six-roomed house in Mount Kdeu, j owned amt occupied by Myra Lodge, ] The house, with practically all its conI tents, was ablaze throughout, and was I soon reduced to a smouldering heap of i j rums. Christchurch, October 26. j About 8 p.m. on Friday aiternoon, 1 a two-storeyed seven-roomed house, j owned and occupied by Mrs Paul 1 M'Coll, at Greenpark, was totally doI iStroyed by lire. There was an outbreak of fire on Saturday afternoon in the premises i in Colombo Street occupied by .1. H. .Sherwood, stationer and fancy goods dealer. The dames got a fairly good hold, but the major portion of the damage done was by smoke. Wanganui, October 26. A disastrous lire broke out earls’ this morning in Roberts’ Buildings in Victoria Avenue. As a result two shops in a two-storey building, occupied by Mrs Breniff ('draper and fancy goods) and Trownson (basketmaker) were completely gutted, nothing being saved. Mrs Brenilf was tin' only perj son sleeping on the premises and- she ;! was carried out in an unconscious I condition, suffering from the efleets oi smoke and shock. Christchurch, October 2<. The Broaddeld shearing shed, together with seventeen bales of wool, was destroyed by fire early on Sunday I morning.
