AN EXCITING TIME.
SHIP ON FIRE. [By Eleotrio Telegraph—Copyright . [United Press Association.] Halifax (Xova,Scotia), October 27. The steamer Sowwell, with decks red hot, raced to this port. tinge seas,broke the shearing gear, and the vessel was temporarily helpless in midocean. A fire broke out while 1 voyaging from Savannah to Havre. The crew fought it with steam and pumps, but were obliged to race to Halifax. The local fire brigade suppressed the outbreak after heavy damage had been done.
