TROUBLE

IN THE “AMEN” CORNER. WESLEYAN HERESY HUNT. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright; [United Press Association.] (Received 10.50 a.m.) London, October 27. A crisis has arisen in the Wesleyan Church in connection with the appointment of the Rev. George Jackson, as tutor at Didsbury College. A Wesley Bible Union lias been formed with a view to counteracting Mr Jackson’s doctrines. Sir William Smith, president of the Union, has issued a statement declaring that the terrible teaching that the Bible is a legend, a myth or a fable, is one of the main causes of the decrease of membership of all churches. He adds: “if we are to have a revival, of religion, the Church must get rid of such doctrines.”
