LABOR DAY.

[To The Editor Stratford Post.] Sir, —In view of Labor Day which falls, on Monday week, may I suggest that Stratford fall in line with towns of similar importance and observe the 27th as a close holiday. The Banking Institutions, Law Offices, Auctioneering Firms, etc.. even in this town, observe the holiday, and why not the other business concerns. Monday at any time is a poor day as regards business, and we surely do not want a repetition of last year, when at noon two thirds of the shops closed, owing to lack of business. As the Friendly Societies are holding a large re-union at Hawera. on that day, it would give Stratford members of the various lodges a chance of participating in the same. Hoping business firms will take a favourable view of same. 1 am, etc., ODDFELLOW.
