Captain Cambridge, at present master of the Wellington harbor ferry steamer Duchess, has been appointed manager of the Eastbourne municipal ferry Service.
The Rev. J. G. Chapman, late of New Plymouth, has accepted a unanimous request from the board of management cf the Taranaki Street Methodist Circuit for a fourth year. Complimentary reference was made to Rev. Chapman's services as preacher and pastor. v
Mr Waldo S. Thompson, of the Land and Survey Department, Napier, and brother to Mr J. Harry Thompson of Stratford, has just passed his final as a surveyor. Mr W. S. Thompson will be remembered by many friends in Stratford where he resided for some years, and, was in the office of the late Mr J. R. Maekay. He received a great part of his education under -Mr F. H. Tyrer at Stratford School. - s The following have been' nominated for the president's sections of the British Association cf Mathematics and Physics:—Professor Troutcn (chemist). Mr Harry Musgrove, the well-known theatrical manager (a; brother of George, the one time familiar Australasian entrepreneur) whq yesterday visted Strafford in connection with tho /jijdius Knight season here, has had , a long and wide experience in matters theatrical. He saw Nellie Stewart make her big success the first night she appeared in the pantomime at Drury Lane Theatre, London; and was associated with Australia's favorite ' when she made such 1 a ; pronounced success at the Majestic Theatre, San Francisco, leaving that city just three days before the memorable earthquake. Other memorable ! first nights in his experience were'when'Sarah ' Bern- ! hardt and the Fred'Leslie-Nellie Farren combinations opened at the Princess Theatre, Melbourne.: ' He was 1 business manager of the theatre at the time. Mr Musgrove is also a cricketer of considerable experience. In 1896 he was manager of the very successful Australian team which visited England and defeated All England at Manchester. The team played in America and New'Zealand. Mr Musgrove has played for Australia against England.
