The weather was fine for the opening day of the Dunedin spring meeting. The course was in good order, and the attendance was large. Results: Hurdles.—Coroneted 1, Jolly Friar 2, Coy 3. Scratched: Simon Pure, Combination. Won by three-quarters of a length.

Stakes.—Marsa 1, Botanist 2, Coites 3. Also started: Waitara. Won, pulling up, by many lengths.
