It contains a piquant correspondence which took plate at the end of 1885 and in 1886,, in which Mr Joseph Chamberlain indicated his detestation of the Whigs. He 'criticised in a racy maimer Mr Chamberlain's desire to regain office. Mr Chamberlain, in December, 1885, outlined a federal scheme on the lines of America, with legislatures in England, Scotland, Wales and Ulster, the | rest of Ireland combining.
