A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

New York, October 7
The town of'Nome, Alaska, has been largely wiped out by a. great' storm. Tremendous seas broke over the waterfront. Vessels have been sent to bring off the inhabitants who were desirous of leaving. The sea swept a number of houses from the waterfront into the sea. During, the storm a fire broke out and destroyed the whole business section of the town.

A rich sand gold dredging area around Nome has been overwhelmed, the waves overflowing whole of water front.
The city is in ruins. The fire rs still burning. People suffered great hardships.
Steamers are engaged taking off the victims.
The electric power plant is wrecked. Citizens endeavoured throughout the night to' save their belongings by the light of burning, houses. A relief committee is aiding the sufferers. Five hundred are homeless. There have been four deaths.
