[By Electric Telegraph-—Copyright 1 [United Prtss Association.] (Received 9.40 a.m.) Sydney, October 6.
The Herald says the disappointment of the Derby was Soltano, who petered out before the half mile post was reached and finished second to last. There was no accounting for the failure.
The Telegraph declares that anything more disappointing than the display of Soltano can scarcely he recalled. Before going a mile he dropped hopelessly out or the race, and was heaten without a struggle. Ho nm so badly it was thcught he had broken down, but fortunately it was not ihn casu.
