ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

PTOMAINE POISONING. [Per Press Association.] Christchurch, October 5. The Ford family, of St. Albans', had tinned fish for tea last night. To-day they are in. the hospital, recovering from an attack of ptomaine poisoning. The sufferers are James Ford, locksmith; Alice Sarah Ford, his wife; Jack Ford, Allan Ford and George Ford, sons ; and Marjory Ethel Ford, daughter. The fish that caused the trouble was tinned herring;; ot which all the family partook. Tliey are all out of danger now.

A SEAMAN DROWNED

Napier, October 6

John Cardwel, employed on, a trawler, was found drowned in the harbor. It is believed he slipped when going aboard.

FOUND DROWNED.

Auckland, October 6

, The body of an unknown man about oo years'of age, sft Biri, and dressed in a welL\vorn tweed,suit, was found drowned on the beach at Orakei. Wanganui, October '6.

An inquest was held this morning on the body of Hugh O'Donnell, found in the river after being missing for a week. A verdict of "found drowned" was returned, there being no evidence to show that death was other than accidental.

FOUND IN THE HARBOR.

Wellington, October 6.

The body of Benjamin Anderson," 45, a casual wharf laborer, was foiind floating in the harbor yesterday. Little is known about him.

BOY KILLED BY FALLING TREE.

Taihape, October 6

Milford Thomas Ford, 8 years, son of George Ford, a farmer near Rangataua Lakes, was killed on Saturday. Tho fatlier-wag felling a small tree, and deceased and a younger brother came near just as the tree was falling. The father called to them to run, and both ran different "ways, deceased going under the falling tree and being instantly killed. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death was returned. . .... ■
