AN IMPORTANT DISCOVERY
SUBSTITUTE FOR RADIUM. v By Electric Telegraph—Copyright [United Friss Association.] London,. October 3. Sir Frederick Treves states; that the quantity of radium at the institute is four grammes, valued at £BO,OOO, the greatest stock in the world. It ha? been discovered that a gas emanation has exactly the same properties, and is as efficient for curative purposes as pure radium. The emanation is, therefore, being stored in hollow plates or glass tubes and forwarded to medical men in any part of the country without radium. This is de creasing the value of radium. Impregnated water is also producing astonishing results with sufferers of certain afflictions. Remarkable effects secured with radio-activity, in cases of rodent ulcer, carcinoma, sarcoma and keloid, have been shown in photographs.
