Hareourt, Colonial Secretary, disapproved of splitting lip the Camel Corps or the extension of the spher< of operations. Mr Archer, ActingCommissio'jer, testified: to Captain Cor-
field's bravery and energy, but reluctantly charged him with a rash act involving the Protectorate and the Government in a severe setback. Mr Hareourt, commenting on the evidence states that the disaster was due to Captain Corfield's complete disregard of instructions. Mr Archer has bec>n gazetted a Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, in recognition of Ids work done on the reliel expedition.
