It appears "that one man, Oscar Donald, aged 7 28 yeads, was employed where he was discovered by d'yeiglabor with • a severe gash in his throat. The other was also a farm, laborer, Percy Butler, aged 27. He was found at Hunua, on Thursday evening, with his throat \ cut, and was brought to Auckland accompanied by a medical man. An operation was performed at the bos- I pital. FOUND DROWNED. Wellington, September 28. The police to-day .received advice j from the constable at Tinui that the I body of a man about sixty years of age was found in the Wliarema river, j It had apparently been in the water | for some.jtime. The. identity i*..unknown. ~, , S A MOTOR COLLISION. Christehurch, September 28. A collision, took place this morning at the Colombo, street crossing between the north'train and a motor-car driven by Hardy, a traveller for Bing, Harris and Co. Hardy stopped on the. rails waiting for shunting trucks on another set of rails to pass. He did not notice the train coming. The engine driver, however, saw the car, ami applied the brakes, and the train was only moving slowly when it struck the car. The car was pushed sideways some distance, but did not overturn, and was only slightly damaged. YOUNG WOMAN SUICIDES. Feilding, September 2Q. A shocking occurrence' is reported ! from Aorangi. On Saturday night a single woman named Beryl Neill com- ' initted suicide by hanging. Apparently the woman became 'demented, for ■ previous to being found she behaved, strangely.
