The yearly week of self-denial in connection with the Salvation Army will be observed this year from Saturday, October 11th, to Friday, October 17th. Few circumstances connected with the work of the Army, reveal in a more pregnant manner the spirit of development—than the week of self-denial. The great transformation for good the Army has wrought requires no specific instancing. It is to be seen on all hands, especially in the redemptive work, which has become the means of obliterating many sad and pitiful chapters of the past, and opening up a new career in the lives of thousands of people. Donations in aid of the work of the Army will be received by the Officer in charge or any of the authorised collectors.
