Mr Benjamin, manager of the Australian cricket team, interviewed, stated that agreements had been signed for another tour of the cricketers in the United States and Canada next season, playing double periods to those played during the present tour. which had been the most successful ever experienced. The financial success was exceptional, and the attendances everything that could be desired. FOOTBALL. THE RUGBY GAME. [Per Press Association.] Carterton, September 18. The Wairarapa Rugby football representative's defeated Wanganui by < ight points (a converted try and a penalty goal) to nil here to-day. HOCKEY. THE LADIES' TOURNAMENT. WON BY WAIRARAPA. Wanganui, September 18. The New Zealand Ladies' Hockey Association's annual tournament was concluded to-day, in fine weather, and before a big attendance of the public. The final match between Canterbury and Wairarapa, won by the latter by 4 go'ids to one. was productive of tine hockey, and roused the spectators' enthusiasm. HOCKEY GIRLS ANNOYED. Wanganui, September 19. At a farewell social given to the lady hockey visitors last evening, a resolution was passed unanimously expressing regret at the publication in the press of anonymous letters containing unwarrantable accusations against visiting lady players.
