BROADWAY IMPROVEMENT.

Mr C. E. James's Shop. At an early date extensive improvements are to be carried out at Mr C. E. James's premises in Broadway, and when they are completed a very handsome appearance will be presented by the shop front. In the shop all the partitions will be taken down, giving a good expanse of clear floor space. Further shop room is also to be obtained by shifting the office back into the Christmas toy room. The shop-front, however, will be the most important feature of the improvements and will combine several ideas previously not in evidence in Stratford. The bay in the windows is to bo increased in size and will be floored with tiles, which will also be used on th ebase of the windows. All the woodwork will be of polished oak. A decided novelty is the method of lighting the shop. The plate gla«s window will finish about three feet below the point where the verandah ioints the front of the shop. A row of skylights will run along the back of the verandah and a linincr nndor th«» verandah will throw the light risjht into the shop. A handsome show-ense will occupy the sppep in front of the doors. Mr A. D. Blick prepared the olans for the work.
