TO UK IST AND HEALTH RESORTS [Per Press Association.] Wellington, September 17. With the Mental Hospitals Estimates passed, members proceeded to discuss the merits of various tourist and health resorts. The Minister said there had been no slackening off on his part with regard to Hanmcr, nor had there been any decrease ol expenditure in the Tourist Department by the Government. The Department would be represented at the Auckland Exhibition. The new Hermitage at Mt. Cook would be opened at the beginning ol' the new year, Mr Russell asked what the policy of the Government was concerning the drainage of Rotorua. Rotorua luußa rateable value of £480,000, and for the year 1912-13 the only rates received were £142 for charitable aid. and £IBB for lire prevention. All their roads were maintained for them by the country. The House adjourned for lunch.
