Invercargill, September 10. The Australians lost the fifth match of their tour, against Southland, this afternoon. The first spell ended: Southland 8, Australia 0. Southland attacked in the second spell, and shortly after the start A. McNeece scored between the posts, as the result of a faulty' kick by an Australian. The try was converted by Martin. •Southland 13, Australia nil. Southland continued to attack till well on to the end of the spell, when the Australians opened out and played attractive football. After pressing for some time Wood scored from a long linc-ont pass, but no goal resulted. The Australians kept in Southland territory, and within a few minutes of time Murphy scored from a scrum on the line, and Simonson converted. DULLER BEATS NELSON. Nelson, September 10. The interprovincial match, Duller v. Nelson, was played to-day, Duller being victorious by 16 points to 3. The gold medals donated by Mr Goo' Tabor to the best all-round players in the Tukapa senior and junior teams have been allotted 1 6 Messrs C. Brown and R. Spence, while Messrs H. Morshead and E. Loveridge have been awarded Messrs McLeod and Slade’s gold medals for players showing greatest improvement in the respective teams.
