[Pur Press Association.] Dannevirke, September 10

The Dannevirke Steeplechase Meeting opened to-day in fine weather. The course was in good order and the attendance was large. Results: —

Handicap Hack Hurdles.— Toner 1, Merrie Valet 2, Lamsdorff 3. .Scratched : Fond Memory,Buoyant,Rongomau, Ibhar, Kahaui, Coronation. Won by a head after being left by 100 yards. Two lengths between second and third. Time, 2min 52sec.

Spring Handicap.—Roosevelt 1, Mysteriarch 2, Matlow 3. Scratched: Ariom, Otalm. Won by two lengths, a fair third. Time, 2min 1 Isec. Umutaoroa Hack. Birkful 1, Courtley 2, Settler 3. Scratched: Yankee' Doodle, Park Hill, Silver Rose, San Wai, The Diver, Marblo Head. Won by a neck, a length and a half between second and third. Time, lmin 29sec.

Steeplechase. —.Master Wpbb 1, Windage 2, Gondolier 'I Scratched : The Ranter. Siola tell. Major Webb and Simple Simon ran off. A great finish. Won by a neck, a head between second and third. Time, smin lOsec.
