ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
SOFTHLAND BUSH FATALITY. [Per Press Association.l Invercargill, September 1. A man named Walker, a recent arrival in the district, was killed this alternoon. It. appears that lie was engaged in hauling logs with the aid of a traction engine at Donkin s Bush, adjacent to Otautau, when a log rolled on the unfortunate man, crushing his head. Death was instantaneous.
FNTSFAL DROWN TNG CASE. Auckland, September 1. A telegram has boon received by Police Superintendent Mitchell from the constable at Mangawai, 16 miles from Wcllsforcl, as follows Horace Colin Campbell, a farmer, single, 61 years of age, was found in the Mangawai river at one o’clock yesterday with a saddle between bis legs. He was evidently thrown from his horse and drowned. The horse was seen close bv with a. broken bridle.
