• - Tlie Gcjqpral Purposes Commit tec ol the Council of the Clydesdale Horst Society of the Dominion of New Zea land met in the registered office of the Society, 87 Crawford Street, Dunedin on Thursday, 2Sth August.. Present Mr Jas. W. Blair (president), in tin •chair, and Messrs Jas. A. Johnstone and Geo. C. Thomson. , Apologies were intimated fron Messrs W. J. J. Charters and- Jas Gow. Messrs James Fogarty (Ohaupo Waipa, Auckland), Tom D. Keenan (Hollybrook, Maungatua), James B Morrie (Milton), and Dennis O’Brien (Cloverhill, Wingatui), having signed the application form were duh elected members of the Society. Applications, for affiliation were received from the Ashburton A. and P Association (Ashburtori), The Feildinp Industrial A. and P. Association. (Feilding), the Gore A. and P. Association (Gore), The Kelso A, and P. Association, The Otago A. and P. Association (Dunedin), The Taieri A. and lb Association, The Waimate A. and P. Association (Canterbury), and al were granted. The application of Mr James Kenyon (Morton), for prefix “Glenside” and by Mr D. G. Wright, 'Windermere, Winslow, for prefix “Windermore,” was granted. The secretary of the Auckland A. and P. Asociation wrote accepting on behalf of his committee the Council’s offer of the Union Company’s Challenge Cup for competition among mares at the Exhibition Show to be held in Auckland in December next.

The/ secretary reported that a considerable number of studs have been examined by the veterinary officers of the live stock division and that applications were still coining in from members who seemed anxious to avail themselves of the great benefits of the scheme.

Accounts amounting to CMC 5s Od were passed for payment.
