The Civil'and Military Gazette at Lahore in a series of articles urges the Indian Ocean dependencies to sup ply the nucleus of an eastern defence system, consisting of a fleet and an expeditionary force to co-operate witl the Dominions to secure naval concentration where it is needed to safeguard sea-borne trade and supply reinforcements for Egypt and India, besides being a provision against the new naval factors that have arisen, in the Pacific.
