AMERICAN INTERESTS. U.S.A. PROPOSAL. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] {United Press Association.] (Received 12.25 p.m.) Washington, August 21. Senator Penrose lias introduced a resolution authorising the President to despatch troops to Mexico to protect American lives and interests such step being decreed by the Senate as in no way an unfriendly act towards Mexico. The opponents of the resolution point to President Huerta’s attitude hitherto as giving every indication that it is a vain hope to expect him to regard such action as friendly. The motion was therefore dropped.
