CHILD BURNT TO DEATH. [Per Press Issooiation.] Christchurch, August 21. The circumstances attending the death of Winifred Plagnini, aged 9 were investigated at an inquest lasi night. Evidence was given that the mother washed the girl’s hair in : liquid which she believed to he kerosene. When drying her hair befor the fire the hair caught fire and the child was so badly . burned that sir died in the hospital. Subsequent!' it was discovered that the liquid wa: benzine. A verdict was returned tha* death was due to shock. The mother was severely burned, and is now in the hospital.
