Dr. Lumhold, a Norwegian, who conducted a zoological expedition to North Queensland a quarter of a century ago, is organising a scientific expedition for New Guinea under the auspices of the Norwegian and British Geographical Societies. Mr Frank Mackay, who has been spending a few weeks in the South Island, returned to Stratford last evening. ’ Friends in this district will regret to learn of the death of Mr Alfred Collingwood, son of Mr William Cqllingwood, which occurred at Inglewood on Tuesday. Mr Albert Heap, a Crimean and Indian Mutiny veteran, is dead, aged eighty, says a Sydney cablegram. He witnessed the murder of bis own mother and sister in Nana Sahib’s massacre at Cawnpore.
